That Bird Gets Around

I was accepted into an amateur art show locally.

The piece “Bird In Hand” was taken at my first artist residency Fall of 2013 ( my goodness that seems like ages ago). It was also part of a group exhibition titled Eat Drink And Be Merry at Jackson Junge Gallery in Chicago.

Boy, that bird gets around.

The woman/artist who juried the show had to decide which pieces got to stay in the event - over 200 submitted.   She said what helped her decide was if her experience of the art was memorable.  I liked that.

The image really prompts the discussion of where our food comes from especially in relationship to factory farming.  Many know that I began teaching about and advocating the alternative food market in the early 90’s. That conversation has come a LONG way since then. I am for one still learning and very happy to be part of the changes.  If you are not currently part of your farmers market, it is never too late to begin. Your local farmer will thank you!!

The 88th Annual McClean County Art Center Amateur Art Competition/ Exhibition was well attended.  Folks can view until April 18th.

Loved seeing the awards and matching the artist to the art.

The last photo are pieces by my friend/artist Jo Hart.

One of which won in the ceramics category.

I feel sooo proud of her.
