Food Photography 101 At The Local

A Bellingham YELP  event hosted a collaborative with Dwayne Rogge, and PhotoTree House to teach a Food Photography 101 Class at an eatery known as The Local Public House, a fun pub spot known for it's amazing rueben sandwiches and homemade sausages. I was invited to offer commentary as a guest speaker. Dwayne and I have very different photography styles. I didn't know quite what to expect. I shoot food as I am cooking, in general meal prep can be meditative for me and I find food very beautiful.  I ere on the organic narrative side of image expression and often get up close and personal.

I shared, when taking food shots I think to myself, "What makes me want to eat this?"

The set up was with lighting. Not my expertise. The Yelp swag included these clip on lights for one's phone. Too fun.

I had a really good time talking out loud about what I observed going into photographing a certain plate of food. Apparently folks were really listening. Gotta love it when that happens.

I met some lovely people last night. I am really glad I joined in on the class.

My favorite images were the naturally lit ones.

The others didn't turn out too bad though!!

Ended up staying late and enjoying the pub atmosphere.

All in all a good night.
