an imageteller captures image celebrations.
sharing image tales broadens an artistic expression.
doing so, brings this particular creative indescribable joy.
what is your image story? perhaps I can help you tell it!
Hello Autumn.
I thought I'd release another collage series before getting my thinking cap on about marketing for the holidays. The holidays for some of us can be a bit of a bah hum bug thing. Despite the lack of seasonal joy that some might have the holidays happen every year whether we like it or not. Truth be, I am actually looking forward to ending this year in a festive tone. It's not that I dislike the season, it's more that my recent personal circumstances haven't been particularly celebratory.
The 900 series release is mostly work about moving west last fall.
( collage title: from abe to antlers )
if you remember i secured a roommate and apartment sight unseen. i landed here after a magical month long, love filled beautiful journey only to have said roommate share that I couldn't stay. Her news sortof shifted the tone of my magical destiny. While I am far on the other side of that episode of things, those adventures and angst did show up in my collage work.
( collage title: "she was a tech" )
There is a collage in this release that is especially special. During my 2014 fall artist residency at The Milkweed Mercantile at Dancing Rabbit Eco-Village I made this lovely little piece out of altered paper. Making altered paper is really fun. The ink of national geographic magazines dissolves when the citrus cleaner citri-solve is applied. Torn in a moment of joy, this was the result.
( collage title :: hula altered paper )
A few other collages are from that residency. A hint of mr cowboy is reflected in these two below.
Sold as a single piece even though it's actually two collages. fun to frame separately!!
( collage title: stare one and stare two )
When I released the 200 Series - I played around with making prints. I offered 2 sizes. The goal was to offer a variety of price points for my work. I did not make prints for any other series.
ALL PRINTS ARE 50% OFF!!
Here are past releases:
The B Side Series are the sides "lost" to the back side of journal pages. for awhile I journaled on both sides of the page. Needless to say some folks get a surprise bonus collage when they make a purchase!
Below the rest of The 900 Series.
Vending currently at The Bureau
on a recent errand i got lost, i told the woman helping me that i was from the midwest. she asked me if i still audibly gasp when I see the mountains and I exclaimed yes!!! because it's true!! I pinch myself that i am near so much astounding natural beauty. she said that she too was a "flatlander" and that 10 years later, she still gasps!! i love that!! i still feel like a stranger in a strange land especially in relationship to the seasons. winter this past year was nothing but wet, and a single dusting of snow, certainly nothing like what i grew up with. summer back in IL this year was wicked hot - where here, the weather was a cross between heaven and a need for a light sweater. each and every night the summer temperature drops into the 50's - the most profound sleeping weather ever. i realize i am babbling about the weather, but the truth is - it's different here for me. another truth is it feels that as quickly as summer arrived, it is seemingly ending.
below a small image essay to share a bit of the beauty around me.
the full album is here.
I was invited to author a guest post for The Bureau's Blog.
The timing was rather synchronistic. What I had to say felt very declarative, almost like an artist statement. This year has been a whirl of encouragement and artistic opportunities! I hope you enjoy the post!
a small collection of collages were created separate from my journal.
i am releasing a few of these pieces.
they are known as "the loose pages series"
my favorite of the series is:
"Cowgirl Blues" is a piece I created after leaving Mr Cowboy, giving expression to my independence. I love the blue antique plate and sassy gal on the horse.
This small collage release will be JULY's display at The Bureau Of Historical Investigation. Their 2016 tour season is now up and running. A very happening and bustling time.
I am VERY happy to say I've signed on for another vending contract. AND, that my Creative Subconscious Collage Workshops are on calendar through November!! How's about those 2016 apples!! Add that Collage Circle has completely taken off with a full house each event. All of the above folks is a dream come true for me. Thank you so!!
Below the release for July --- Enjoy!!
It is with great joy that I share how remarkable it felt to pool together all the thoughtful and just beautifully collaged envelopes for The Lost Art Project installation! What I envisioned came true, and what I experienced along the way was more than I could have ever hoped for.
