Project 2017 :: One Eye Series
While collaging daily in 2017, I began to observe art work that had just a single eye in them. I am not sure the meaning of that. I like my work to be asymmetrical. I also feel since my collage work is a personal narrative that eyes and/or an eye meant at some level a searching of some sort. I would not particularly try for the one eye look and then observe when I completed a piece - oh, look ( pun!! ) there is only one eye! This made me smile.
There are many many emotions and stories within this collection. 2017 was a year of bullying, pending homelessness, financial and emotional struggles and more.

I began dividing the daily art work I did in 2017 as a Project. It became a way to observe what themes appeared. You can find blog posts about the other six themes here.
My collage work is for sale. Each piece is 8.5 x 11 for $54 plus whatever shipping. Usually $6

Project 2017 :: Trees
I have been enjoying the memory evoking task of tearing apart journal pages that are from the year 2017 - this was the year I started collaging on a daily basis. Having such a high volume of work makes it hard to share or view objectively. I decided by dividing work into themes that I perceive as cohesive that they will have a stronger value as installations or consignments. Themes: a cry for help, black and white, birds, the neighbor, and floral can be found here.

Narrative :: A Living Statue
once upon a time i authored an article and in the process of it all took way too many photographs. she, this beautiful living expression of street performing art was a delight to capture. I feel especially grateful for the opportunity!!

Force :: A Group Show About Nature
For the month of September, Make.Shift Gallery will feature several local artists who explore the relationship between humans and nature. Biologist and artist, Audrey Thompson, uses fire and wood to create pyrographic portraits of aquatic animals. Mattie Templeton incorporates bright colors and geometric shapes to bring large predators to life. Cydni Carter’s mixed media collages meditate on the landscapes of our memories. Nicole Denning’s intricately layered illustrations and Karen Hanrahan’s torn paper collages raise questions about the relationship between violence against women and humanity’s impact on the environment. This collection will also feature black and white photography by Rod Haynes and oil paintings on recycled wood by Seth Benish.
This exhibition coincides with Endangered Species: Artists on the Front Line of Biodiversity, which will be held at the Whatcom Museum from September 8, 2018 – January 6, 2019.
I mentioned works of nudity that I had in my portfolio to the gallery director. That is how I was invited to participate in this group show and the Prospective Parts Show in July.
