I was having this memory moment
ever have those?
It was about coloring in grade school.
It was about staying in between the lines while coloring.
I used to color within the lines rather skillfully
but I loved to outline what I had colored in a different color.
we don't do that, the nun said.
Someone was also trying to discount my crayon color combinations.
Apparently pink and green don't go together.
nor did yellow and green.
I remember wondering where this person's sense of aesthetics was.
because I thought those color combos looked awesome!!
i don't know why this moment found me recently
except to perhaps acknowledge how early on
( this was second grade )
I lost respect for my teacher.
at least her ideas about color combining.
and that in my gut I was grateful that I had my own mind and my own sense of things.
still do.
wink!
I was reminded of that coloring conversation
when glancing through this photo shoot
of a spring garden taken a few years ago.
nature sure would have shown that teacher a thing or two
Photography = a never ending opportunity to capture visual celebrations.
