Meet Nathan Hoenes, an artisan/welder who created the metal sandwich vessel for the pop-up eatery known as BraiZE. ( Have you tried a Braizito yet??)
It is a remarkable privilege to get access to an artists inside space. To see them in their work space; surrounded by their tools, their inspiration and their creations!
For this particular project Nathan shared that it all starts with a metal rod. He then methodically hand cuts and shapes all the parts that need to be welded together. The actual welding is the least time consuming.
As a photographer this particular shoot had it's challenges because every time Nathan welded, the very bright light of the flare ( hope I got the terminology correct) filled my lens with too much light.
After awhile I was able to figure out how to catch the sparks JUST right.
Making me feel rather accomplished as a self - taught photographer.
Oh my gosh - I LOVE this image!
I admire the efforts of skilled artisans tremendously.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to capture his process.
Thank you Nathan for sharing with me what it is that you do!
The full library of my shoot with Nathan can be found here.
Projects like these are perfect for utilizing my gifts as a creative.
I love capturing the essence of others expressing what they are passionate about.
Illustrating them through photography I hope moves their particular story forward.
Photography = a never ending opportunity to capture visual celebrations.
